GUIDANCE LESSONS:
All students receive a guidance lesson from the counselor once a month.   Topics may include lessons to reinforce our Pillars of Character, Kelso's choices, internet and personal safety, and anti-bullying strategies.

NEW STUDENT GROUPS:
Counselors will provide an opportunity to meet with new students and help them as they acclimate to Coulson Tough.  Students will meet to have lunch with their grade level counselor and participate in activities such as answering questions and learning information about our school and staff.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Our 5th & 6th graders have many opportunities to develop their leadership skills as the “oldest” students in the school.  Student Council is made up of 2 representatives from each homebase. They assist in a variety of ways and will be assigned to a particular grade level to promote activities and service projects.  Their main project are our CT Scholarship Program and our annual Race for Awareness. Our CT scholarships are available for any current CISD senior who attended Coulson Tough. We raise funds by selling Spirit Sticks and hosting an annual Talent Show performed by 5th & 6th graders. The first annual Race for Awareness was held in April 2016 in support of Autism education. Our student council students visit classrooms to teach key components about the chosen topic/organization.

Student council members also help run booths at our annual Fall Festival such as the dunk tank, finger nail painting and the ring toss.

All 6th graders are given the opportunity to join a committee each semester.  Committees include Green Club, Grounds, Yearbook, Titan Book Share, and School Store.

RED RIBBON WEEK:
Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized program that is supported by all schools in CISD.  This program, held the last week of October, is focused on making healthy choices regarding drugs and alcohol.

GENERATION "TEXAS" WEEK:

A week in November has been set aside for all Texas public schools to recognize the importance of education beyond graduation.  At the elementary level, we have KTUF announcements that emphasize different universities and possible career paths.  One day during the week, we encourage staff and students to wear their favorite college shirt/jersey and teachers will tell their classes about their college experience.
